This scene pictured above represents Falstaff sitting in the Boar’s Head Tavern holding his dagger in the manner of a scepter as he imitates Prince Hal’s royal father on his throne. Falstaff undertakes to rehearse Prince Hal’s excuse to his father for his outrageous behavior. This is one of the marble bas-reliefs made by sculptor John Gregory for the front faade of the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. The episode that the bas-relief depicts is one of the most comic in Henry IV, Part I (II, iv).
