About the Author

Orhan Pamuk is a Turkish novelist, screenwriter, and academic born in Istanbul in 1952. He is one of Turkeys most celebrated writers and won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2006, becoming the first Turkish citizen to receive the honor. Pamuks works often explore the tensions between East and West, tradition and modernity, and individual and collective identity. His most famous novels include My Name Is Red, Snow, The Museum of Innocence, and The Black Book. Known for his richly layered narratives and philosophical depth, Pamuk has also been a vocal advocate for free speech and human rights in Turkey. He teaches at Columbia University and continues to publish fiction and essays that resonate globally for their literary elegance and political insight.
